My feet, quitting time, Thursday.

Had a long week, even with the day off for the 4th. Thursday was eleven hours putting up trusses, some of it in the pouring rain (cranes are$100/hour, including the hour it takes to drive from Benton). Hanging trusses on a house this size is supposed to take about 4 hours, but we were shorthanded, so it took all day. My job was to hook the crane to a truss and then tie a rope to one end to hold it still while the crane raised it and put it in place.

The trusses are forty feet long and heavy, so it was a job to hold them steady. After watching me pull on the rope and try to keep a few trusses from twisting on the crane, the guys started calling me "truss wrangler," which seems to have replaced my previous nicknames "professor" and "teach."

Monday should be kind of scary; we're hanging plywood on the roof, which will involve climbing up to the very top of the rafters.

The good news is after we're done with the plywood, we're moving on to building cabinets, something safe and useful. After that, school starts and I go back to being a teacher.
